Hello, I’m MRH
& I'm a graphic desigNer

— Originally on a path towards pursuing a career in the film, my plans took a slight shift when I was introduced to a high school yearbook class. From there, I caught the "design bug" and got my first taste of grids, guides, picas, and layouts. I soon realized that graphic design is what I want to do for the rest of my life.

ABOUT ME

My name is Morgan Riley Hall and I’m a Southern Californian and recent college graduate looking to make a splash in the graphic design world. I’m young and hungry for a challenge that will keep me busy. For me, graphic design is not just a career but also my passion. I love what I do, and I’m looking to master all aspects. I've spent my years of schooling, and much of my free time, absorbing new techniques, following trends, exploring bigger and better ideas, and making sure that I am a well-rounded designer.

EXPERIENCE

Current

- Modern Postcard: Graphic Designer

- Freelance Designer

During my time working as a Freelance Designer I have been...
- Working with small companies on "packaged" based projects that include a logo, business card, stationary, Facebook cover photo, and advertisements.

- Kellogg Library: Outreach Librarian Assistant; Creative Services

During my time working at the Kellogg Library, I was...
- Working in a fast-paced environment built on tight deadlines while creating various forms of promotional material such as designing flyers, postcards, logos, T-shirts, and brochures in both a print and digital format.
- In charge of developing large campaign-based designs that carried a theme across several platforms over the course of several weeks. One of my largest and most time-consuming tasks creating a logo and various types of materials for the library’s 10th anniversary.
- I also assisted with setting up, maintaining, and then the take down of various artworks in a gallery setting.

- The Cougar Chronicle Newspaper:
Co-Editor-in-Chief
Design Editor & Ad Designer

During my time working at The Cougar Chronicle I was...
- In charge of media, content placement and overall design across five different sections as well as creating graphics, pie charts, graphs, etc. relevant and necessary to each issue.
- Presenting large amounts of information in an aesthetically pleasing format and editing all photos and graphics to be in both a printed and online format.
- I also was in charge of creating several detailed media kits for advertising purposes and worked with clients to create advertisements.
- In spring of 2012, I spearheaded the re-branding of the newspaper from the underwhelming "The Pride" and transitioned it to The Cougar Chronicle. I transitioned the look and the feel of the newspaper into something the students and staff of CSUSM enjoyed and looked forward to reading. I established new design concepts, new logos and a new color scheme that allowed the newspaper to flourish.
